A Journey Into The Unknown

A Journey Into the Unknown is a NES dungeon exploration game where every playthrough is different.

The dungeon is generated procedurally: rooms, traps, enemies, and items appear randomly. No path is guaranteed, and the destination may be found quickly… or not at all.

Adapt, explore, and trust your luck.

 

STORY

On a quiet night, a young boy sits alone, playing his NES.

But something is wrong.

The screen flickers… and suddenly, he is pulled into the game.

Now trapped within a shifting dungeon, he must find a way out, if one even exists.

 

GOAL

Explore the dungeon and survive its dangers.

Somewhere in the depths, a hidden destination awaits.
Reaching it may return you home… but the journey is unpredictable.

Will you find the end, or wander forever?

 

CHARACTERS

Choose one of three knights, each with a unique ability tied to a specific item:

• Kaela
Ability: Jump (Boots)
Press A to jump and overcome large obstacles.

• Aldric
Ability: Attack (Sword)
Press B to strike enemies with a powerful attack.

• Garrick
Ability: Dash (Gauntlets)
Double tap a direction to dash forward, cross small gaps, and defeat certain enemies.

Abilities can be found and purchased during your journey, choose wisely, as each one offers a different way to survive the dungeon.

 

CONTROLS

– D-Pad : Move
– A Button : Jump (if unlocked)
– B Button : Attack (if unlocked)
– Double Tap Direction : Dash (if unlocked)
– START : Pause Menu

 

PAUSE MENU

Press START during gameplay to open the pause menu.

Available options:
– RESUME : Continue your current run
– REROLL : Regenerate the current room (Costs 5 coins)
– SAVE : Save your progress
– QUIT : Return to the title screen

Use REROLL if you are stuck, but be careful, the dungeon always demands a price.

 

NOTES

Each room is randomly generated.
Some abilities must be acquired to progress:
– Jump (Boots)
– Attack (Sword)
– Dash (Gauntlets)
– Shops and locked rooms may appear with useful items
The dungeon is unpredictable, exploration and adaptation are key.
