Mystic Searches Comic No. 1

The initial concepts for Mystic Searches were colored pencil drawings straight from the hand of an 8 year old. Decades later, working together with Austin McKinley, we had to reimagine a compelling story and game world from those illustrated daydreams of a child. We had to find the delicate balance between paying off on the suggestions in the original sketches and our adult storytelling sensibilities. The story grew. It evolved. It became prose. It took on new themes. It became animation. It became gamified. And then, the reinterpretation returned to its illustrative roots.

This comic illustrates the inciting incidents that tug Julian reluctantly into the adventure of Mystic Searches. The game, the novel, and the comic all have an introduction that share a common skeleton, but it’s fun to see how different mediums forced different considerations for the same content. We hope to make this the first in the series.

Mystic Searches Comic No. 1 is finished and ready to ship. There is a small batch prepared to ship now. When that batch is gone, subsequent prints will be ordered, and by fall they should be regularly in stock.
